We Love Sarria

Sarria is quite a large town, I would not say a city as such, as it does no appear to be that large.
Walking into town to the hotel was only about 1km and it is only about 1km till we hit the bush walking out of town tomorrow. The thing about Sarria is that it is the nearest major town to the 100km mark that allows you to qualify for your Compestela....which is a good thing to have on your resume..in Spain and perhaps some parts of Europe.
This means that people flock to Sarria to start their Camino, for religious, resume or any other reason. The number of people leaving town tomorrow will be about 5-10 times the number that we have had to face previously.
We went for dinner at a restaurant along the river, that HJ and I got totally 'smashed' at the last time we were here. HJ and I sat there, eating a Tapas and drinking G&Ts and before you knew it, we were having trouble finding our way back to the hotel.
Tonight was not as bad, we had a great feed, consisting of anchovies in vinegar, giant asparagus, prawns in garlic and something else we can't remember. It must be the rusty nail or beers or vino tinto that has clouded my memory.
Regardless, it was a great feed and great company in a good environment, helping to replenish the minerals and vitamins we leeched out of our bodies during the day with the two or three liters of water we drank during the day when walking.
Here is a snap of us with Kluster and Misschelle before dinner and one of the wine and rusty nail....(TL)
The six of us at Tapas
Dessert - Rusty Nail and vino, we need to get our Iron from somewhere!

  2. The third dish last night was garlic prawns, making garlic, asparagus, potatoes, lemon (in the gin) grapes (in the wine) hops and malt (in the beer and scotch). We went a supermarket yesterday and got bananas, oranges, muesli bars. We will heed your comment Toni and do better today...(TL)
